Chest Veins

Vein disease is a progressive condition that involves multiple factors including valve failure, hormones, mechanical obstruction, blood clots and gravity. The type of veins involved differ in origin yet the treatment is similar for chest veins according to Dr. Lawrence Presant of Arizona Vein Specialists. Dr. Presant has over 40 years of experience in the medical field and has established a reputation for his high quality work in vein treatment. If you have chest veins that are troubling you Dr. Presant will work with you to develop a treatment plan that will deal with the underlying and aesthetic issues of varicose and spider veins.

Treating Chest Veins

Chest veins usually fall into two categories, red thread-like veins and larger blue colored veins. The color is caused by the light reflected back to your eye through the skin. The vein wall has been stretched to transparency making the blood in the vein visible. The best method for elimination of these veins is by injection sclerotherapy. Arizona Vein Specialists is mindful of the fact that each patient’s health and cosmetic issues are different. Dr. Presant and his staff are committed to providing their patients with the best, safest, and technologically advanced vascular treatments available.

Sclerotherapy Treatment

Arizona Vein Specialists excels in sclerotherapy treatments for chest veins. Sclerotherapy is a quick and safe procedure to eliminate unsightly chest veins. The treatment consists of injecting a special solution into the vein. Sclerotherapy causes the thin walled vein to collapse and close, safely sealing the vein. The blood then detours into a healthy thicker walled vein that is not transparent. The sealed vein remains closed and fades away. Sclerotherapy can take from 15 to 30 minutes per session. Not every vein will close 100 percent with the first treatment. After one month, any remaining veins can be retreated.

After Care

After receiving chest vein treatment your chest may be wrapped with a compression dressing for a few hours. You may return to your normal daily activities with little to no downtime. It is recommended that you protect your skin by using sunscreen and wear loose fitting shirts for a few days after treatment.
